MÂCON-VILLAGES · 2024 · BURGUNDY · OLD-VINE CHARDONNAY · LIMESTONE TERROIR
A beautifully precise expression of southern Burgundy, this Mâcon-Villages is made from old-vine Chardonnay grown on limestone-rich soils in Bussières, just outside the prestigious Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. The 2024 vintage is fresh, mineral and finely textured, combining green apple, lemon and white peach with delicate floral notes and subtle nutty complexity. Barrel fermentation and malolactic fermentation bring richness and a gentle creaminess to the palate, while the wine's natural acidity and mineral backbone provide freshness, precision and length. A serious, beautifully balanced Burgundy that offers the elegance and terroir-driven character of the region at an exceptional level of value.
A refined, mineral-driven Mâcon-Villages with old-vine depth, Burgundian elegance and impressive freshness

- Decanting Advice
- Not necessary. Open shortly before serving and allow the wine to develop in the glass.
- Cellaring Potential
- 3–5 years, although its freshness makes it particularly appealing young.
- Oak/Cask Ageing
- Fermented in barrel with subsequent malolactic fermentation, adding body and creamy texture. The SWC description also notes that the wine is principally vinified in stainless steel, so I would describe this as a combination of stainless-steel and barrel work rather than an overtly oaked wine.
“This is a lovely Burgundy that punches well above its appellation. Fresh, mineral and beautifully textured, with plenty of citrus and green apple but also that gorgeous creamy edge. And knowing it comes from Bob Reeves and Jonathan Webb makes it a particularly good bottle for an England rugby weekend.” - Jonathan T
