It is a rugby player’s worst nightmare. It’s the only thing players worry about at the bottom of every ruck, waiting for a horrible moment when their neck may just get into a terrible place, be broken, and life would never be the same again. It happened to Matt Hampson in an England training session.

Matt has every rugby player’s heart and soul… there but for the grace of God… and so does any badly injured person who is the wrong side of Lady Luck. Instead of lamenting what he’d lost, Matt made a decision to focus on the things he could still do and enjoy and ‘get busy living’.
This is the ethos of his charity, The Matt Hampson Foundation which offers expert physiotherapy, specialist disability personal training, mentoring, advice and support to other young sportspeople recovering from life-changing injuries. Sporting Wine Club already supports the Hambo Foundation as a wine partner. So when Hampson’s Gin came along, our fast growing spirits division couldn’t wait to get involved!
For every bottle sold, a significant donation will be made to the Foundation to support their work. More importantly, every time you treat yourself to the blueberry infused delight that defines Hampson’s Gin, you will hopefully think of the Foundation and how you can help. Recently, The Matt Hampson Foundation has been appointed an official charity partner of the British and Irish Lions Trust and what better way to prepare for the Lions Tour than with a glass of G&T, Hambo-style. Take the Hambo philosophy and apply it to the world of gin, let’s get busy tasting…!
