Winemaker’s News

Known as the ‘Prince of Centres’ , Jeremy Guscott knows where to find quality wine. No surprise then to find my old Bath and England colleague sampling the new Chardonnay with Simon Turner at the great House of Sumaridge. This multiple award winner ( the wine I mean) has got even better. Cannot wait for the 2017 vintage. The Guscott vintage never ages of course, just look at the videos ……. England Scotland 1992 Grand Slam Year who can forget.

Oregon Wine tasting in London

Jordan Hostetter, Doubleback Marketing director, came over for a State of  Oregon Wine tasting in London. The Doubleback stand was singled out for it’s quality and Oz Clarke didn’t need much persuading to come along and sample the Flying B, Elizabeth Chardonnay and Doubleback. The increasing presence of the NFL in London gives greater weight to our triple offering and Drew Bledsoe’s legendary status with the all conquering New England Patriots is part of our story.

SH meets Federico in Gauchos

I met recently Federico, International Manager for Valentin Bianchi wines where the Messi Malbecs and Torrontes are made. We have both these wines featured in all Gaucho restaurants in the country and feel very privileged.

Of course we had lunch in Gaucho Piccadilly and enjoyed some of the Torrontes, already becoming one of our most popular wines. If you haven’t tasted it you really should. Ideal as the weather warms up. We are also investigating opportunities to visit the vineyard in deepest Mendoza, one of the worlds most iconic winegrowing regions.

I am hearing the current vintage is one of the best – can’t wait. Meantime we are proud to have a link with one of the world’s best ever sportsmen and the magnificent Charity Foundation which he supports.

Jacky Lorenzetti wines and rugby at  La Défense Arena

It doesn’t get any better than to watch high class rugby in a world class stadium in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. What is more to taste some of the world’s best wines at the same time. Jacky Lorenzetti’s vintages are there to enjoy for any of Racing 92’s home matches by arrangement. You just have to get there and of course we presume you will take the opportunity to stay over and enjoy Paris itself.

Sporting Wine Club can offer you that wonderful experience, simply make contact and the only prerequisite is that you need to have ordered his wines from us – not really a hardship, whether Lilian Ladouys, Pédesclaux or Chateau D’Issan!
