Domaine Saint Hilaire | Languedoc, South of France | Cricket
We first knew from the Clare Balding show a couple of years ago that Jimmy Anderson was into wine. England’s all-time leading wicket taker appeared with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Cipriani to blind taste some sporting wine; a competition won by Schalk Burger’s Hat Trick!
Jimmy has gone on to produce his own wines, and we are proud to add Jimmy’s wines to our growing cricketing portfolio! Jimmy’s ‘The Numbers Collection’ celebrates cricketing milestones from his outstanding test match career. Anderson worked with fifth generation family producer Robert Vic Domaine Preignes Le Vieux, based in Beziers. From the 13th Century of Preignes le Vieux in the South of France, the award-winning family produced wine is notable for its light, fresh and elegant style. Passionate about wine and heavily involved in the production process himself, Jimmy wanted to capture the essence of treasured family holidays in the South of France.
From a bottle of red celebrating his highest Test Score (81) to a sumptuous sparkling Rose marking his passing 400 Test Wickets, the collection is a fitting tribute to an all time great. And, with plenty to come from Jimmy to the pitch, we suspect it’s not finished there…
Jimmy Anderson is the all-time leading wicket-taker among fast bowlers and holds the record of most wickets for England in both Test and One-Day International (ODI) cricket. He is the first fast bowler as well as the first English bowler, and the fourth overall, to pass 600 Test wickets.
The Winemaker Says
‘The Sporting Wine Club seemed a natural partner for The Numbers Collection and we are excited to be on board. My passion for southern French wine is shared by the club and combining it with sport and charity is a winning mix. We are delighted that The Sporting Wine Club will be supporting the LCCC Foundation through Jimmy’s collection.’
