Sporting Wine Club has extended its relationship with Sport Industry Group for the next two years, continuing as the official wine supplier of the BT Sport Industry Awards.

2017 will see Sporting Wine Club supply Sumaridge Estate Wines from the Bay of Hermanus, South Africa. The wines will be available on the tables for all guests of the event, who will be celebrating the finest work within the sport sector and beyond at Battersea Evolution on 27th April.

The Sumaridge Wine Estate has sport at the heart of its existence, acting as the home to South African township rugby team, the Black Birds RFC. Starting in 2008 with only seven players, the club has grown to 50 players – all farm labourers and residents of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

Sporting Wine Club is a members’ club founded by former England rugby player and current chairman of European Professional Club Rugby, Simon Halliday, and his business partner Chris Mariner.

Commenting on the renewed deal, Halliday said: “We have developed a superb relationship with the BT Sport Industry Awards, and are excited to showcase Sumaridge Estate Wines at the sport sector’s biggest celebration of the year. We are committed to supporting the sport community and this provides the perfect platform to achieve this.”

Alex Coulson, executive director, Sport Industry Group, added: “Being able to toast the finest work from the industry with wines that also have their own sporting story is a wonderful narrative to have for the evening’s celebrations. We are very pleased to have Sporting Wine Club’s continued support for the next two years.”

The BT Sport Industry Awards are the most prestigious commercial sports awards in Europe and the industry’s flagship event. The evening will be attended by high-profile guests from the British and international sport industry, as well as stars from sport and beyond, together with senior leaders from agencies, brands, business, media, rights holders and more. Taking place at Battersea Evolution on Thursday 27th April 2017, full details including the remaining available table packages can be found here.

BT is headline partner of the Awards, with Coutts, ESPN and EY official partners.
