Dear Members and Friends,
Many thanks for coming along to the Chinese Cricket Club restaurant this week. For those of you who stayed on for a meal afterwards I think you will all agree that the food is truly delicious.
Here is a download of the wines on show:
We were celebrating the start of the cricket season with wines from Botham, Merrill, Willis (BMW), Jimmy Anderson (The Numbers collection – 11 and 81) and a new entry of Viognier, Rosé and Shiraz from the great Graham Gooch, whose triple offering sits well with the 333 label remembering his record score for England v India all those years ago. The new Viognier and Rosé were particularly well received, refreshing and gentle on the palate. As always the BMW Shiraz was very popular.
have renamed their white Blend to Klipkop,
the Rosé to Tara
and the red blend to Bushell
, all with charitable and philanthropic causes in mind. These lifestyle wines are just a small example of the wonderful Sumaridge portfolio, which can be seen at www.sportingwineclub.com
. These three stories which were told by Holly Bellingham-Turner on the night are special, as with all our Sporting Wines.
Schalk Burger has rebranded his Meerkat
Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Burrow Blend and Pinotage – amazingly good value, easy drinking and gregarious like all Meerkats.
On show was the Patriot, a sensational Cape Blend which is only here on allocation so if you are keen then be quick to place an order!
People enjoyed the Mon René sparkling wine, Champagne in all but name and half the price – ideal to enjoy these long hot summer days.
Lastly, the Pinot Grigio received rave reviews. It is clean and fresh and from the historic Collalbrigo Estate just north of Venice, whence the original Bellini hails – also on show!
So much to get stuck into and the Summer is only just beginning. More fun to come with SWC – if you are keen on the Italian evening upcoming on June 27th you need to make contact with us asap as spaces are limited.
All the best,
Chris, Simon & Alex
