Six wines. Two countries. One extraordinary rugby story.
Born from post-match conversations between Springbok legends Bismarck and Jannie Du Plessis and former Scotland rugby coach Richie Gray, the RugbyField Vineyard concept began with a simple but brilliant idea: create a vineyard the exact size of a rugby field, complete with rugby posts, and make an exceptional wine from the vines growing around it. The idea became reality at Château de Valcombe in Générac, France, where brothers Basile and Nicolas Ricome — 10th-generation custodians of the family’s organic estate and former amateur rugby players themselves — dedicated a special block of vines to the project. Sporting Wine Club
The story then travelled home to South Africa, with the RugbyField Vineyard range expanding to L’Avenir in Stellenbosch, where the Du Plessis brothers have brought the same sporting spirit to some of South Africa’s most celebrated grape varieties, including Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. RugbyField Vineyard Classic White
A textured and aromatic white with ripe stone-fruit character, subtle floral notes and a lovely freshness that keeps the wine elegant and vibrant.
RugbyField Vineyard Chenin Blanc
Crisp and elegant, with notes of white peach, pineapple and apricot, alongside subtle honey, toasted almond and gentle spice. Sporting Wine Club
RugbyField Vineyard Classic Rosé
Fresh, elegant and beautifully pale, with delicate red-fruit character and the freshness you'd expect from a classic Grenache/Syrah rosé. Sporting Wine Club

A bold and expressive blend of Syrah and Grenache, with ripe dark fruit, blackberries and cherries, balanced by a fresh, clean finish. Sporting Wine Club
