Sporting Wine Club has pleasure in announcing the launch of our first Portuguese wines. Iain Brown ‘Brownie’ owns Vihna do Falesia, a medal winning boutique vineyard near Lagos, in the western Algarve. The dramatic location of the vineyard, sweeping south to the Atlantic and sitting atop 100’ cliffs, is the most southerly vineyard in Portugal and also closest to the sea, delivering a subtle maritime influence to the wines.

The Wine: A blend of Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc.

The wine has a delicate yellow colour with greenish tones. Its' aromas reveal a citrus profile with hints of tangerine, with subtle pear and peach flavours and satisfies the palate with a fresh and lingering finish. Its light and dry acidity and subtle influence of the ocean deliver a special gastronomic disposition to all seafood, light pasta, cold cuts and light Asia cuisine – or as a refreshing summer aperitif.

The Wine: This Vinha do Falesia Tinto is a 2018 Vintage and is blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and local Touriga Nacional. The wine demonstrates a lovely colour concentration of ruby with garnet nuances. Its aromas reveal full, ripe fruit, red fruit jam and some aromatic herbs such as thyme and rosemary. A balanced yet concentrated red with long, smooth tannins…with a hint of the ocean.
