This Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco. Partial ageing for 12-months in old French and Slavonian barrels.

Making wine in Croatia’s most remote and cars-free island in no easy task, but the sandy and peaty soil, extremely rich in minerals, and its warm microclimate make Sansego perfect for growing natural vines. Our Sansego Rosso Botte is hand harvested in mid-September and fermented spontaneously with its indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes remontage for up to 15 days, at least once-a-day, during its fermentation. The wine is then blended and rests 12 months in oak barrels. As there are virtually no vine diseases on the island, Sansego can be considered “naturally organic” and sulphur at the time of bottling is around 50-60mg/L. All Sansego wines are Vegan-friendly.

Description

Francesco Cosulich is an Italian entrepreneur who decided to venture in its family’s land of origin, the region of Dalmatia in the Adriatic Sea. In 1989 Francesco planted 20 hectares of Guyot trained vines in Sansego, which he still manages with his son Federico.
