The Wine: Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc and Glera. Partial ageing for 12-months in old French and Slavonian barrels.
Making wine in Croatia’s most remote and cars-free island is no easy task, but the sandy and peaty soil, extremely rich in minerals, and its warm microclimate make Sansego perfect for growing natural vines. Our Sansego Bianco Botte is hand harvested in late-August and fermented spontaneously with its indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes both battonage and malolactic fermentation before resting 12 months in oak barrels. As there are virtually no vine diseases on the island, Sansego can be considered “naturally organic” and sulphur at the time of bottling is around 50-60mg/L. All Sansego wines are Vegan-friendly.
