Description
White
Another consecutive dry and early vintage for Stellenbosch. L’Avenir’s wines have shown notable elegance, delicate fruit flavours and lower alcohols. These wines are specifically drinking well at a younger age, but with a fine balance, the Provenance Chenin Blanc also promises impressive ageing potential.
Grapes were harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Each vineyard was individually vinified. Skin contact was limited to five hours. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at 12-14°C. Half of the blending components were matured in stainless steel tanks on healthy fine lees, with regular lees stirring. The other half was matured in first to fourth fill French oak barrels, for nine months.
A crisp pale straw yellow with beautiful clarity.
Precise and intense fruit aromas of white peach and melon, accented by subtle notes of honey and toasted almonds.
Red
The 2019 vintage stands out in terms of freshness and elegance. L’Avenir’s wines from this vintage boast natural acidity and crispness. Phenolic ripeness was attained at lower sugar levels resulting in wines with lower alcohol levels.
Grapes were harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Each vineyard was individually vinified. Once the grapes were crushed, the mash was cooled and fermentation took place for 5-10 days at 24-26°C. Upon completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured in steel tanks, as well as 300 litre French barrels for 10 to 14 months, using a combination of new, second and third-fill French oak. The final blend was based on a meticulous barrel selection.
