From Peregrine's organically certified Bendigo Estate in Central Otago, Charcoal Creek is a beautifully concentrated late-harvest Riesling, made from some of the final fruit picked at the end of the season. The 2017 vintage combines orange blossom, citrus rind and honeycomb with rich flavours of ginger, cardamom and crème brûlée, while crisp natural acidity keeps the sweetness poised and fresh. With 100g/L residual sugar and the ability to age for a decade or more, this is a serious dessert wine rather than an afterthought — and a wonderfully distinctive expression of Central Otago Riesling. The 2017 vintage was also recognised at the 2023 Global Fine Wine Challenge, receiving scores of up to 93 points from individual judges.
